Here is the EdgeStar 166-Bottle Wine Cellar
This wine cellar is great for anyone with a larger collection. What we like about this cooler is that it can serve as a Freestanding Cooler or a Built-In cooler. That is, it vents in the front, but the cabinet is completely finished (black cabinet) so it looks great anywhere.
It is a very attractive wine chiller, looking modern with its stainless steel door and classy with wood trimmed shelving.
Let’s get to the details:
This is a Single Zone, Compressor Cooling wine cooler. One concern that many people have with compressor coolers is noise. This cooler is not totally silent like a thermoelectric might be, but it is not loud by any means. You may know that it’s running, but only if you pay attention. Regardless, a thermoelectric cooler would not be able to handle a collection of this size.
The temperature range is 40-65º F, which is a nice range for both red and white wine. The temperature is controlled by an easy to use digital display inside the unit (upper portion).
The size is 69 1/2” H x 23 7/16” W x 26 3/4” D and the total weight of 231 lbs.
The cabinet is all black with a stainless steel door and a flat (silver) door handle. The door has tinted glass which adds to the classy look of the cooler. The tint will help protect your wine from harmful UV rays, but what is nice is that you can still see your collection through the glass.
One other thing to note about the door – it is reversible so can open to the left or right (but should come opening to the right)
What’s inside?
The interior features a soft blue, LED light which looks awesome at night and really shows off the wine.
The interior racks are wire with wood trim. They slide easily and can be completely removed if needed. This will come in handy if you have larger size bottles.
There is a built in Carbon Filter which is always a nice feature. This helps protect your wine from odors that may be in the room and keep the interior of the cooler fresh.
There are also power circulation fans that ensure even cooling (no hot spots).
This wine cooler also has a lock at the bottom which is nice to have for a larger collection.
The only thing to note (as with almost all wine coolers) is that cooler is constructed to hold ‘regular’ sized wine bottles (for example, the size of a standard Bordeaux is considered ‘regular’ size). The wine cooler will hold larger size bottles, but the total capacity will decrease. This is pretty standard with all coolers though, so it really shouldn’t be a complaint.
The bottom line: if you have a larger collection that you want to protect, this is an excellent option. It is attractive, holds a nice size collection and does a great job keeping your wine at ideal temperatures.
Plus it shows off your collection nicely.
